Dressage World Breeding Championship for young horses

From 2025 to 2027, the World Championships for Young Dressage Horses will once again be held in the equestrian city of Verden.

In the week from August 4 to 10, 2025, the best dressage talents in the world will choose their champions at the showgrounds on Lindhooper Straße. The World Championships will thus return to their “birthplace” in Verden. The pilot project took place in Verden in 1997. They have since become the starting point for a number of international careers.

Preparations are already underway and anticipation is high. In previous years, it was above all the numerous expert spectators from all over the world that made the title fights for five to seven-year-olds a real highlight.

The World Championships for Young Dressage Horses were last held in Verden in 2021. At that time with limited spectators due to the corona pandemic.

World Championship candidates for Verden

“Overall, all age groups were very strong. “ Dressage judge Reinhard Richenhagen has been a member of Germany’s selection committee for the World Championships for Young Dressage Horses. The FEI WBFSH Dressage World Breeding Championship for Young Horses will return to Verden this year (6-10 August). The first selection for the dressage youngsters between five and seven years of age took place in Warendorf in the last week of June.

Stallions in the majority

An analysis of the past ten years of the FEI WBFSH Dressage World Breeding Championship for Young Horses reveals a clear trend: among the 337 finalists, 200 were stallions, 81 mares, and 56 geldings. Stallions therefore make up the overwhelming majority.
